Manuscript Cataloger Position - CA



Position Announcement - Manuscript Cataloger, full time, 18-month position

Responsibilities:

This is a grant-funded position, responsible for creating catalog records
for a portion of the California Historical Society's manuscript collection.
Records will be created using RLIN AMC, in line with APPM and other
cataloging standards.  May require editing of legacy EAD encoded finding
aids and minimal processing of collections. Requires periodic reports for
granting agency. This is a full time position, with benefits, that reports
to the Director of Research Collections. The salary for this position is
$33,500.

Qualifications:

Required:
Master's degree in Library Science or equivalent;
Demonstrated experience or graduate-level education in archives and
manuscripts, including knowledge of standard archival practices and
procedures in accordance with SAA guidelines;
1-2 years' experience manuscript cataloging into RLIN or other bibliographic
utility;
Knowledge of and experience with RLIN AMC format and cataloging standards

Desirable:
Knowledge of California history
