searching for detlef lineau...Yes, you found him.

Dear Mr. Ansley,

You will be happy to know that nearly all of Detlef Lineau's architectural
drawings are held by The Drawings Collection of Avery Architectural & Fine
Arts Library of Columbia University, New York, NY 10027 (212) 854-4110

You might also wish to contact the Lockwood-Matthews Mansion Museum in
Norwalk, Connecticut. The Mansion is Lineau's greatest surviving work; I
believe there are a few drawings there too. You will NOT want to miss seeing
the mansion. It's astonishing.

Dear Colleagues,
I am trying to discover if there is a repository out there that has the
architectural drawings or records for the nineteenth century architect
Detlef Lineau.
Detlef Lineau, a Danish immigrant, was educated in Europe and came to New
York in 1848 and established himself as one of America's leading architects.
Among his many achievements were the design of the first example of the
French Second Empire style in New York and the introduction to America of
the mansard roof style, typified by the French chateau. He also was a
co-founder of the American Institute of Architects and actively participated
in its formative years.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
John

P.S. I have already sent an e-mail to the American Institute of Architects.
