Re: Acid-free materials sold in stores



Erin and everyone else,

This brings up a good question.  Sandy Hempe pointed out that all acid free
paper is not the same.  How about polyethylene?  I have seen polyethylene
bags available for significantly less than the archival photo sleeves in
Gaylord for example.  If all polyethylene is not the same, what should one
ask about or look for in specifications.

Please reply to the list--I'm sure I am not the only one wondering.

I have noticed labels identifying plastic photo-sleeves as "acid-free."
These are items I've checked in scrapbook stores and Wal-Marts.  Does the
term have any application to plastic products?  Paper, yes, but plastic?
