History on the web

All,

There is a terrific article that may be of interest to the list in the most
recent Journal of American History. The article is entitled: "The Road to
Xanadu: Public and Private Pathways on the History Web." The author is Roy
Rosenzweig and the full bibliographic information is as follows: v. 88, n. 2
(September 2001), pp. 548-579.

Rosenzweig discusses the current situation regarding history and the web and
highlights both the possibilities and the dangers of the present
arrangement. I highly recommend this cogent review essay which I had an
opportunity to read due to the unforeseen "free" afternoon that I, and I am
sure many others, had yesterday.
