Back on point--documentation of an event in progress

Dear all,

We are already asking one another (on the listserv), and our colleagues (who
are not subscribers) questions about documentation methodology for events of
great magnitude that are immediately and generally recognized as such. I
would ask:

Is there a basic protocol, or a list of basic principles, for documenting
such events, especially those still in the process of unfolding and
developing?

I'm asking this question to follow up on this morning's thread (at least,
that's when I read the first posts). Apologies in advance if the question is
simplistic, or has been addressed before.

Sincerely,
Marcia Segal
