"creating a small collection"

Hello once again listers.

Hope everyone is well.

Today's question is this:

A professor here at the college as decided to have her students document their reactions to recent events. The Director of the Archives would like to place those papers in the Archives.

I am wondering how other Archivist might handle the integration of these materials into the Archives. Our focus here is NYC Politics in the late 20th Century. Specifically we have collection of personal Mayoral papers with microfilm copies of the public papers. In addition i have small local history collection.

Should i put these documents in the local history collection? I should i create an entirely new record group for them? I am sorta unclear about what to do with them.

There is also an Archives for the College, we are not the college Archives, should the documents go there instead?

I know its Friday and to make it even worse its a long weekend but any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Have a good weekend, all.
