Re: Certification

There is no practice exam available that one can take although a few sample questions were included in the Handbook for Archival Certification published a few years ago and now available on the ACA web site at www.certifiedarchivists.org. The questions included there are I believe from the item bank of questions actually used on the test.

There seems to be a misconception about recertification (or Certification Maintance as if is officially called by ACA). While it is always possible to take the exam to maintain certified status, that can also be done by submitting a form on which one can demonstrate that he or she has accumulated 100 points by being employed full or part time as a professional archivist, by attending conferences and workshops, by belonging to professional archival organizations, by holding office within those organizations, and by doing research and publishing in archival journals or in other journals when substantial amounts of archival materials have been used.
