FYI. Although it is a
shining example of raw empiricism, here goes:
I've had over a dozen responses
and all except one report anywhere from 10% to 50% drop in users since Sept. 11
and only a few are seeing a slow return to normal levels. Most drop seems
to occur in long-distance requestors.
Thanks to all who
responded.

Subject: Researchers in hiding?
Since September 11 the number of
research requests (in person, phone, and email) that I've received at my shop
has fallen off sharply. This fluctuation may be coincidental but I
wonder if any of you can report a similiar drop. I understand
that general attendance at museums has suffered and is being
attributed to the terrorist attacks.
