Re: Oversize posters

Are your posters already rolled up? If not, you might prefer to store them
flat, or you will end up with a massive unrolling problem in the future.

We too make giant acid-free folders for posters and other artwork, but we
fasten them with aluminum staples instead of tape. I'm told that these
staples will not rust or degrade over time. Then we store them flat in a
powder-coated Russ Bassett map cabinet with nice roll-out drawers.

We periodically purchase very large acid-free sheets from
Light Impressions and others, and fold them to make folders
to fit large oversize items. If we don't have a large enough
folder, we do "make" one by overlapping acid free sheets
and taping them together. I do know that the tape will
eventually gum the folder, fall off, etc...but we do overlapping
so it wil not affect the item within the folder.

We also utilize some standard book shelving but use both
sides of double-face units so that we have a large flat storage
surface.
