FULL-TIME POSITION
Position: Assistant Archivist
Where: The Frick Collection and Frick Art Reference Library
10 East 71st Street
New York, New York 10021
When: January 2002
Duties: Responsible for processing a large collection of
family and business papers. Duties include preparation of inventories,
processing of collection, preparation of EAD
finding aids and selection of selected materials for digitizing. Reference
service
will also be required. Collection will be
shared with another institution, and collaboration with that institution is
also a function
of this position. The position reports to
the Chief Archivist of The Frick Collection and Frick Art Reference Library.
Qualifications: Masters Degree in Library Science or History with
emphasis on archives. Minimum of 2 years professional experience.
Experience processing collections, creating
automated and conventional finding aids; responding to reference requests.
Computer skills required; familiarity with
Windows applications and other programs desirable. Strong interpersonal and
communication skills required.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00-5:00
Annual Salary: Mid - $30Ks; excellent benefits

The Frick Art Reference Library, one of the world's leading centers for
research in the history of art, was founded in 1920 by Miss Helen Clay Frick
(1888-1894) to further the goals of "encouraging and developing the study of
the fine arts and of advancing the general knowledge of 'kindred subjects'."
The Library became a division of The Frick Collection in 1987.
