Patron request--German archives

Pardon me while I cut to the chase and ask the list for help. One of my
faculty and I have searched and come to dead ends so far, so any help will
be appreciated. The faculy member is looking for the papers of
developmental psychologist Wilhelm Thierry Preyer, b. William Terry Preyer
in England; LC form of name is Preyer, William T., 1841-1897.

Preyer taught at a number of German schools, so his papers could even be
scattered. Specifically the faculty member is hoping to find Preyer's
papers relating to Preyer's study of the development of his own child, as
well as the materials related to hundreds of German mothers sending notes on
their children's development to Preyer. I'm finding lots of books and a
suprising amount of stuff on the web, but no clue yet to where his papers
may be held. Any enlightenment or fingers pointing in the right direction
would be most welcome. Now I know why I took those three years of German in
college!
