images of us

Christopher, and everyone else interested in how we (archivists) come across to
the public: last spring I wrote a paper sort of on images of archivists in
professional and popular literature, part of which looks at the traditional
stereotypes of librarians and the various efforts being made to reverse them,
and the lack of similar trends among archivists.

If anyone wants to read it, it's at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/futurelib/files. Or you can email me offlist and
I'll send it to you. It's not bad - I finished it in a rush and a lot of it
sort of rehashes Arlene Schmuland (?The Archival Image In Fiction: An Analysis
and Annotated Bibliography,? American Archivist 62), but I think I made some
interesting points. (And I got to do webseaches for "naked librarians" and
"naked archivists." How cool is that?)

Anyway, it's there if you want it.
