Re: Electronic Archive



Sounds like a neat program, but does it maintain the original formatting of
the documents?  One of the questions raised at the conference I mentioned
was the look of the original - bold, italics, etc., which are things that
get lost when you save a Word doc as Ascii.  Moreover, the functionality of
a Word doc in its original environment with the functions particular to MS
Word may be part of the "record" here; any program such as Dean's, if it
simply allows you to view the doc without those features might mean the
"record" has changed.

Personally I believe it's the information that's most important, and saving
that is the key, even if it doesn't look exactly like the original - many
will argue that point.  I only bring it up because to those who believe the
look is critical, any e-docs strategy has to account for that.
