Re: Laws Relating to Governor's Papers

It is my understanding that, with very few exceptions, the Governor's papers
are government papers and therefore subject to retention and disposition
regulations provided for under the NH Municipal Records Board rules as well
as any additional, applicable state laws. You may want to contact State
Archives for an opinion on specific, historical material, but in general
terms those records contain references/information to matters of public
policy and are essentially governed by standards similar to those that would
be applied to the legislative and judicial branches and local governments.

Subject: Laws Relating to Governor's Papers

Fellow Archivists: Is anyone aware of laws anywhere in the country that
relate to the papers of a governor? Governor's pretty much have free reign
over their papers, don't they? Do any States have something equivalent to
the Presidential Records Act? Thank you for your thoughts.
