Re: Students as Independent Researchers

Students are hired by Harvard University Archives as researchers for out of town research requests  or for researchers who are unable to spend time in the Archives.
The students donot work in the Archives and are hired through another office. You can get in touch with the Reference Archivist to get further information as to how it is done.

Dear List,

For those of you in Special Collections and Manuscript Repositories with student employees:

Has anyone on the list created a policy allowing researchers to hire students to conduct research for them?  Often researchers requesting materials via telephone, mail, or email require more research/copying than the staff can provide.  I know of institutions that provide lists of independent researchers for those types of patrons. Anyone ever provided student assistants for that purpose?
