Selling de-accessioned materials on e-bay

I know this is a subject that has been broached in the past, but I was hoping to re-visit it. I'm an archivist at a regional history museum that is contemplating selling de-accessioned materials, both archival and objects, on e-bay. I'm wondering if there are any ethical or legal concerns about doing this. Also, for any of you who have gone this route, what was your experience? Would you recommend such a course and why (or why not)? Please respond to the list, or directly to me at Joe.Gillette@ocfl.net. Thanks for your consideration!
