An interesting read

Archivists might want to take a look at Steinman, Louise. The Souvenir: A
Daughter Discovers Her Father's War. Chapel Hill: Algonquin Books of
Chapel Hill, 2001. The book details Steinman's discovery of a cache of
letters written by her father to her mother while he served in the Pacific
theater during the Second World War. She also discovers a Japanese flag
with the name of a Japanese soldier on it. Steinman discusses the
letters, her efforts to track down the family of the dead Japanese
soldier, and her retracing of her father's military experiences.
