Re: Archival careers



There is another reason an institution might require a Masters in
Library Science that has not been mentioned.  If you work in an archives
that is part of a university library system, an MLS may be  required as
part of faculty status in a  tenure track position.  All library faculty
here, as well as archivists who are faculty, are classified as Faculty
Librarians. Many of the archivists have other degrees and/or
certifications beyond the MLS, but all have at minimum the MLS.
