Friday funnies

Greetings all -

I'm in the process of retrieving field record materials from the office and
storage
closets of a deceased geologist. Yesterday morning my helper and I were
working
in a closet and I asked, "Is that a glass jar there on the shelf?" The
answer was,
"Yes, and I think you better have a look at it, Carol" As I got closer, it
looked like
some bratwurst or sausages in some liquid. When I got close enough to read
the
handwritten note taped to the jar, I discovered it was a diamondback
rattlesnake,
ostensibly preserved in formaldehyde!!!! The attached note had a brief
message
about "diamondbacks are a fella's best friend" - the deceased geologist did
a
great amount of work in the Powder River Basin in areas of Wyoming,
Montana, and
South Dakota.
My coworker and I briefly pondered what to do with the jar and contents,
and
immediately realized the most logical recipient was the geologist who's
been
regaling us with good-natured harassment during our work. His office was
right
next door, and there was a space on a table just the right size for the
jar!!!
 Ever onwards!
