conserving/restoring WWII dittoed newspaper

Hi, 5/10/2002

A WW II veteran asked me about the best way to preserve and, if
possible, bring back legibility to a ship's newspaper that had been
dittoed in 1945. Alternatively, is there a way to photograph or scan
it to capture the image and/or text? I haven't seen the document, but
I assume (from looking at old dittos in my personal files) it is very
faded. Any advice would be welcome.

With continuing thanks for all I learn from this list!
