Re: 1814 Red Leather stains
Before condemning Cellugel (although I would be extremely hesitant to use it
as well and would more likely use the Mylar jacket solution), a search of
the Conservation DistList archives reveal that at least two trained
conservators reported in 2000 that they were using it and found it to
"perform excellently:" Ko van de Watering of Koninklijke Bibliotheek in the
Netherlands and Deborah Howe of Northwestern University. Far be it from me
to discount these accounts; they know far more about these things than most
of us.
