Re: restricted collections

A good contact in dealing with sensitive archaeological information would be
your State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) or head of the State
Historic Preservation Commission (usually, but not always, the same person).
Archaeological sites are listed in the National Register, but without
identifying information, so it's something the SHPO deals with all the time.
S/he can probably cite you chapter and verse without you having to plow
through GovDocs, and probably already has criteria set up for who can have
access to location-specific info. Here in Maine, the state maintains a list
of approved archaeologists.

You have the weight of professional practice on your side, so you should be
able to stand your ground with confidence if you restrict parts of the
collection. (the practical problems of separating the sensitive info from
the images are another story entirely -- lotsa luck!)
