Re: microfilm vs. off-site storage



Bridgette: If you'd like figures on the cost of archival-quality
microfilming, I would be happy to provide an estimate. Just give me the
specifics on the collection--type of material, approximate number of pages,
etc. Keep in mind, though, that the microfilm you produce should not be the
microfilm you use. A service copy for the researcher should be available at
the archives, while the master negative should be stored at an off-site
facility with temperature and humidity control. You may not be needing as
much storage space as you would if you didn't microfilm, but you will be
needing some.
