During this past week I have been putting together a project schedule. Part
of the schedule talks about FTEs full and partial. The salary stated is
probably for a fulltime person as a .5 FTE the individual hired will be
paid at the hourly rate resulting from the annual salary. this can general
be done by dividing 2,080 hours (2K workyear and 80 hrs vacation)into the
annual salary rate.

The posting would have been clearer if it had stated something like the
following

part-time position up to 20 hours per week at the rate of x dollars per
hour.

As usual though organizations will continue to offer such ridiculously low
wages as long as people apply for them. Remember it is a supply and demand
situation. Large supply of archivists, very low supply of positions. Now if
it were reversed high number of positions and low supply of archivists you
would see a reverse in the wage scale.

Of course you can always come over to the records management side where
salaries are much, much higher. 8-)
