Town employee cleared
TIM GRACE, Special to The Call
LINCOLN -- A Superior Court judge has dismissed a felony fraud charge brought against a former Town Hall administrative employee.
In fact, the charge against former finance department clerk Leslie Alexander was not
only dropped, on May 17 it was expunged from court records, according to Superior
Court Judge Edwin Gale.
Alexander, 38, had faced a single count of accessing a computer for fraud. State police
had claimed that Alexander altered computer documents to allow family members to
register their vehicles despite owing overdue property taxes.

Waste records become an issue
BY ROBYNN TYSVER
LINCOLN - For more than eight years, Kate Allen lived with a potential "smoking gun" in her basement.
Formerly a policy researcher for then-Gov. Ben Nelson, Allen had taken 19 boxes of files on a controversial low-level radioactive waste site. She took them home after being fired from her job in late 1992.
No one knew about the boxes until last year. Now everyone will know about the politically sensitive files, compiled during the tumultuous period of 1991 and 1992, when the battle against the proposed Boyd County waste facility was at its zenith.
