Re: Fwd: Re: candy in collections

Title: RE: Fwd: Re: candy in collections
As it was explained to me the difference is not only the type of sugar used but also the concentration of syrup per bottle.  The coca cola from Mexico gets cold, just like coke used to be.  Really, really, cold.  So cold that you couldn't guzzle it, you had to sip and the flavor was intense, not like the watered down stuff today.  You can freeze American coke and it still isn't cold like the real coca cola.

Aaargh!!! Did I say that Coca-Cola was invented by a DENTIST??? Of course I know, and meant, that it
was invented by a pharmacist, John Pemberton (1831-1888) in Atlanta in 1886 -- which makes it older
than Dr. Pepper by my reckoning.

BTW, following Lara's subthread, the best Coke I ever had was in Belgium. I don't know what made it
taste so great, but I saved the bottles and they now occupy a prominent place of honor on a shelf in
my den. The best American Coke I ever had was the pre-corn-syrup stuff from my college days at
Bowdoin. Perhaps Awt Dawstie or one of you othah Mainahs can attest to this. It was bawttled in
Lewiston-Auburn, I think, and it had a distinct cinnamonny flavah. Mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

Cheers!

Eric
