Oral History Equipment

While you can always go for a more expensive set up, I've been using lavalier
microphones that I got from radio shack, made by audio-technica. It's ATR35s.
You have to use batteries, which is a hassle, because you have to monitor them
carefully, but the sound is really pretty good. I've used other microphones,
including a Sony solar-powered table top mic, but they did not prove as
reliable. The lavalier mics actually clip on, and the model I use has a 20 ft.
cord. My biggest problem is getting the cords tangled up.

I use a Marantz PMD430 with these microphones and I've been happy with the
results.
