French fur trader slang demystified

Thanks very much to all who responded with information about the French fur
trader expression, "saccaje[eacute] chien"

For those who are curious, the consensus seems to be that "saccaje" is
either a mispelling of a form of the verb "saccager" (from the verb "to
sack" or "to ravish") or a corruption of "sacre." Either way, the expression
might be (loosely) translated "miserable dog."
