ARMA International Opens Public Review on Draft Standard - Establishing a
Vital Records Program

Kansas City, MO., July 25, 2002 -Recognizing the importance of providing
guidance in the critical area of protecting corporate records from man-made
and natural disasters, ARMA International has just released a draft standard
for public review and comment. A PDF version of this draft standard will be
available on the ARMA website through September 15, 2002.
To access the draft standard go to: www.arma.org/standards. There is a link
to "Standards Available for Public Review." Through this link, interested
parties can access a PDF form of the draft standard. In addition, they can
submit comments for consideration through the electronic comment feature on
the web site.
At the conclusion of the comment period, the task force will review all
comments and determine the appropriate disposition for each comment. Once
the consensus group has completed its work, the draft standard will be
submitted to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for
ratification as an American National Standard. At that time it will also be
available for purchase through the ARMA International online bookstore.
ARMA International has been an ANSI-approved standards development
organization since 1986. Published standards and guidelines are available
through the online bookstore at www.arma.org/bookstore. Information about
the ARMA Standards Program and standards work in progress is available
through the ARMA web site (www.arma.org/standards) or by contacting Diane K.
Carlisle, CRM; Director of Professional Resources, ARMA International,
