Record Year for the Academy of Certified Archivists

The Academy of Certified Archivists is very pleased to announce that a
record number of persons have been approved to take the 2002 archival
certification examination. The new high shatters the previous record by more
than thirty-four percent.

111 candidates will take the 2002 archival certification examination. Of
these, 99 will take the test for initial certification and 12 for
recertification. Because of the high number of candidates who also chose to
participate in the "You Pick Your Site" program, the Academy will give the
examination at eleven locations, another record. 2002 examination sites will
be:

Birmingham, AL (SAA)
New York, NY
Philadelphia, PA
Dearborn, MI
Milwaukee, WI
Jefferson City, MO
Oklahoma City, OK
Austin, TX
Salt Lake City, UT
San Francisco, CA
Seattle, WA

The 2003 archival certification examination will be given August 20. The
application deadline is June 15, 2003. For more information about how to
qualify to take the examination or how to sponsor the examination in your
