Friday Chuckle: Big Sale on 1 Million Plus Square Feet of Office Space in Houston!

Gang:
Please note the below actual e-mail from the downtown district org. of
Houston, which includes as item #3, mention of some truly fabulous
office space now available for purchase, in the Enron Tower. Too bad it
is still attached to the other Enron Tower!

The following is Central Houston's downtown update, which is e-mailed
one to two times per month. If you would like to be put on the regular
distribution list, or if you have questions, please return this e-mail
with your request.

1. Main Street Square Approved by Houston City Council
Houston city council yesterday voted to give Central Houston Civic
Improvement right of entry into Main Street, which will enable the
development of the three-block Main Street Square, a significant and
exciting addition to downtown's revitalization. For more information,

2. Retail Lists
The Downtown District recently updated two lists of
retailers/restaurants: those in the tunnel/skywalk system, and those in
The
Park Shops. In addition, the Downtown District recently developed a
list of existing retail establishments on Main Street. A list of
vacant/available retail spaces will be developed shortly.

3. Enron Center South
As has been reported, bids are being accepted through 9/18/02 for the
1,156,636 sf office tower, the parking garage and the day care center
lot, which will be sold at a private auction scheduled for 9/30/02.

4. Cotswold
The city's $62 million Cotswold project is progressing. Phase 1, which
includes Texas, Prairie, Crawford, and Preston, is in its final stages.
Phase 1 includes eight fountains, two light towers, and 305 new trees.
The only remaining work is completion of the fountains on Preston. (Be
sure to see the fountain on Preston near Crawford. It depicts a bronze
baseball, 6 feet in diameter, with water bubbling up around it, as
though it were belted out of the ballpark and landed on the sidewalk,
fracturing the concrete.) Phase 2 will address LaBranch and Commerce
streets, and will add fountains and amentities to Metro's Congress
Street project. By widening sidewalks, adding trees, fountains and
public art, the Cotswold project is recreating its namesake, a walking
place, in the northern part of downtown.
