               AUBURN UNIVERSITY AT MONTGOMER LIBRARY

        ARCHIVES & SPECIAL COLLECTIONS / REFERENCE LIBRARIAN

The Auburn University at Montgomery Library seeks a qualified
individual to fill a tenure-track position, with 3/4 time in the Archives &
Special Collections unit of the Library, and 1/4 assisting on the general
reference desk.

Required: An ALA accredited M.L.S. or equivalent degree; formal
training in archival theory and practice; an ability to work effectively
with donors, colleagues, and a diverse clientele; and effective
communication skills.  Desirable skills include familiarity with MARC
cataloguing and an advanced degree in history or other relevant
subject field.

The position reports to the Head of Public Services, and is responsible
for the coordination of the Archives and Special Collections unit.
Duties include arranging, describing, cataloguing and preserving
archival and manuscript materials; providing reference service to the
holdings of the unit; soliciting donations from and managing donor
relations; participate in the managing and coordinating of the activities
of the Library's Friends group; assists in the provision of service on the
Library's general reference desk; serves on library and university
committees.

Appointment: This is a professional, tenure-track faculty appointment,
with requirements for research, publication, and service.  Salary:
$35,000 minimum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Employment is on a twelve month basis, with 20 days annual leave
and competitive standard benefits.
