University of Miami's Cuban Heritage Collection to Temporarily Cl ose in October

Construction of the Cuban Heritage Collection's Roberto C. Goizueta Pavilion
on the second floor of the University of Miami's Richter Library is almost
completed. The Roberto C. Goizueta Pavilion is named after the Cuban-born
former CEO of Coca-Cola. The Goizueta Foundation, along with Mrs. Elena
Díaz-Versón Amos and the Fanjul Family, provided the generous funding
necessary to build this new home for the Cuban Heritage Collection (CHC).
The new Pavilion will feature an exhibit gallery, spacious reading room,
conference room, expansive collections area, and new offices for CHC faculty
and staff as well as for the Cuban Heritage Digital Collection.

The CHC will be moving into this new space in October, and as a result the
CHC will be closed from Monday, September 30 to Tuesday, October 15. The
official inauguration of the Pavilion is scheduled for Tuesday, January 28,
2003 to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the birth of Cuban patriot
José Martí.
