LIBRARIAN: ARCHIVIST, SPECIAL COLLECTIONS - Library
Salary: $2,674.00 - $2,969.00 Monthly
Closing Date: Review will begin on August 29, 2002 and continue until
the
position is filled
Job Number: 010
DUTIES
* Arranges and describes literary papers and other materials in various
formats for the Southwestern Writers Collection
* Prepares and posts finding aids according to archival standards
* Manages accessions process, assists in acquisitions process
* Implements and updates policies for collection preservation, access,
and
security, and performs preservation duties
* Assists in identifying appropriate grant sources and writing grant
applications
* Manages grant workflow including budget oversight and report
preparation
* Performs shelf maintenance for archives, manuscripts, and cataloged
titles
* Assists in providing reference services and conducting tours for
patrons
* Provides MARC records for collections and direction on cataloging
policies to the Special Collections Cataloging unit.
* Supervises two paraprofessionals and student workers.
* Reports to the Curator, Special Collections.
REQUIRED
* MLS from an ALA accredited institution
* Knowledge of archival and preservation policies and practices
* Knowledge of research and reference skills necessary to process
archives
and to assist patrons
* Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
* Ability to supervise and train staff
PREFERRED
* Skill working with Macintosh microcomputer
* Knowledge of Texas and Southwestern literature, history, and culture
* Ability to read Spanish
* Working knowledge of EAD
