Job opening



Mid-Sweden University, which has approx. 10 000 students and 1000 employees,
is a multi-campus university based in Härnosand, Sundsvall, Örnsköldsvik and
Östersund. 
The Department of Information Technology and Media offers courses in
Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications,
Informatics, Statistics, Communications Science, Journalism and Archives and
Information Science. Mid-Sweden University carries out extensive research in
this area. A research centre for Communications, Computer Networks and
Multimedia Technology is planned as an extension of the ongoing research in
Computer Engineering and Telecommunications. For further information see

Mid-Sweden University is seeking applicants to the following posts
at the Department of Information Technology and Media:
Two University Lecturers in Archives and Information Science

Description of subject and specialisation: Archives and Information Science
deals with the origins, organisation and different usage of archive
information. Courses in Archives and Information Science have been offered
at Mid-Sweden University since the end of the 1980s. The fact that the
subject has now been placed in the Department of Information Technology and
Media means that special emphasis will be given to areas of study relating
to Information Technology, such as which media are preferable to use,
problems of durability, authenticity, the organisation of information and
search routes.

Job description: The successful candidates will be expected to teach
undergraduate courses at the A-D levels, i.e. from the Introductory up to
the Masters degree level. They will also participate in developing the
research programme, carry out their own research and work in co-operation
with the surrounding community. The intention is that the posts will
comprise 50% research.

Qualification Requirements: qualified candidates will have a PhD or an
equivalent academic qualification or other professional skills that are
relevant to the subject matter and requirements of the post, in addition to
having a high level of teaching skills. The selection procedure pays equal
attention to the assessment of the teaching skills of the applicant as to
his/her other qualifications, in accordance with the guidelines provided in
the Higher Education Ordinance, section 4, paragraph 1 (1998:1003). Possible
alternative subjects include Informatics, Administrative Law or Library and
Information Science. Extensive experience of working with archives and
handling documents will be seen as merit.


Place of work: Both the posts are stationed in Härnosand, but a certain
amount of work may be designated to other Mid-Sweden University campuses.
