recording industry archives?

Hello,

I'm new to the list and wanted to ask for information regarding
archives related to the music industry. I'm interested in
researching the emergence of genre categories during the 1920s and
1930s.

1) The ideal collection would be the files from a given record label,
either one of the big companies (Victor, Columbia) or smaller labels
(Gennett, Vocalion, Okeh, Paramount).

2) I'm also interested in looking at how musical film shorts and
radio were involved in the shaping of genres. Radio materials are
easier to find, but musical shorts are famously understudied -- where
to begin?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm in the beginning stages
of what may be a long project.

Best,
Kyle
