I wasn't privileged to know Carl personally, but I always enjoyed and benefitted from his posts here. They were always full of wisdom and kindness, as well as a profound knowledge and appreciation of the ancient Greek language and culture. I am glad to see that his labors were appreciated.
I seem to recall that some years ago Carl had a website with his own Greek-related materials, including his translation of Mark. I looked at it a few times but failed to record the URL. Does anybody know if the site is still around, and where it is, if so?

It's on his St Louis University page:
https://sites.wustl.edu/cwconrad/about- ... eek-links/
I wonder if those will stay up? Maybe somebody who knows more programming than I should write a script to back them up to the Wayback Machine. It would be a pity for his stuff to disappear.

This is great, James! I look forward to exploring the materials. Especially his version of Mark since I have started on my own version. It will be useful to consult. I do hope the materials stay up so we can all benefit.

Re: Tributes to Carl Conrad
My computer hasn’t been connecting well to the site these past few days, so I just now had the opportunity to read through the posts here.
I really have nothing meaningful to add, except to join in on Carl’s praise as someone who was extremely insightful, wise, and patient. I joined B-Greek back in 1999 on the listserv when I was a student at Ozark Christian College. It’s hard to think back now and remember what specific types of questions I asked during that time, but I remember Carl always being amenable and encouraging, having the goal of my understanding and progress at the fore.
It’s often said of the previous generation(s) that they will forget more than we ever learn, and that’s certainly the truth with regard to Carl, whose mastery of the Greek language was probably unparalleled in the current generation. He was a brilliant mind and a generous heart, and he will be missed by anyone who had the good fortune of knowing him in any way.

Re: Tributes to Carl Conrad
I first encountered Carl when I joined the B-Greek email list (as it was then) as a young seminary student in 1997. A short while later I came across a reference to Carl's unpublished Harvard PhD dissertation from 1964, which seemed like a long time ago, though it is now almost as long since I joined the list!
Carl's "Observations on Ancient Greek Voice" (originally posted to the list in 1997) anticipated a spate of publications on the subject by others in the early 2000's and shaped my own thinking on the topic. His enthusiasm for a living approach to learning ancient Greek served as strong validation for those of us "Little Greeks" moving in that direction.
He is missed!
