HLQAN = HLQON. Cf. EIPA for EIPON. One of the many ways in which Greek
is changing in the Hellenistic period is the shifting of second
aorists toward first-aorist morphology, i.e. HLQA, HLQES, HLQE,
HLQAMEN, HLQATE, HLQAN. With the passage of a few more centuries the
same thing happens to the imperfect, wherefore, in modern Greek,
EBLEPA 1 sg. pres. indic. impf.
