Once again CYNDI and Evelyn bump into one another.

                        CYNDI/EVELYN
                Oh!

                        CYNDI
                Excuse me--!

                        EVELYN
                Excuse me--!

        Angelo, following CYNDI, enters. /en13/

                        ANGELO
                Well, hello! My, my . . .

                        EVELYN
                Pardon me?

                        ANGELO
You two look like you've just seen a ghost.

                        CYNDI
I'm sorry, I'm not feeling well. The last try
at channelling took a lot out of me. If
                you'll excuse me . . .

                        ANGELO
Anything I can get you? Aspirin or anything?

                        CYNDI
                No thank you.

And now Evelyn has turned on her recorder and has the
        microphone in CYNDI's face.

                        EVELYN
I'm with the church spiritual leader--

                        ANGELO
                Turn that thing off!

                        EVELYN
--who appears exhausted from her last attempt
to channel back twenty-five thousand years to
                reach the Yin Priestess Dwallah--

Angelo puts his hand over the mic.

                        CYNDI
                I have nothing to say . . . I'm sorry . . .

She wanders away, into B. /ex10/ TIME CODE: 50:30

                        ANGELO
That was rude, if I may say so.

Evelyn's investigative reporting instincts will begin to go
to work now. She turns off the machine.

                        EVELYN
Are you more comfortable with the machine off?

                        ANGELO
I am, as a matter of fact.

                        EVELYN
Then we can speak off the record.

                        ANGELO
You mean off the recorder, right.

                        EVELYN
I'm curious about your opinion on something.

                        ANGELO
                What is that?

                        EVELYN
                There's a rumor that there's a big drugs sale
going on here tonight. An exchange of drugs
of some kind. You've heard it, I suppose?

                        ANGELO
                Who told you that?

                        EVELYN
                Several people.

                        ANGELO
                News to me.

                        EVELYN
No, it isn't. I heard you and Yang Wolf
talking about it, not ten minutes ago.

                        ANGELO
That's very unfortunate for you, lady.

                        EVELYN
                I think not.

                        ANGELO
When you hear what you shouldn't, it gets you
in a heap of trouble. Of course, maybe you
didn't hear anything because maybe I know what
I said and didn't say to this fellow, the
                wolf, whatever you called him.

                        EVELYN
Don't play games with me. How do you know I
didn't record the two of you?

                        ANGELO
That's a very dangerous thing to do, invading
the privacy like that. Maybe we'd better just
                see what you're talking about . . .

He will grab at the recorder now, intending to rewind and
listen to what she's recorded. In fact, she did record
but was too far out of range to get very good coverage.

                        EVELYN
                Don't you threaten me--

                        ANGELO
You going to play it for me?

                        EVELYN
I didn't get anything, you were too far away--

                        ANGELO
Maybe we'd better check that out.

He's found the button: he hear the recorder rewinding.

                        EVELYN
                You're hurting me--

                        ANGELO
                Give me that goddamn thing!

He'll wrestle the machine away and move off with the machine,
into A, where he'll rewind and play back the poor quality of
the last six or several minutes, when she tried to record
        them. /ex13/ TIME CODE: 51:30

Evelyn sees him go, considers her next move, and hurries into
B to make a phone call. /ex14/ TIME CODE: 51:30
