Re: [SANET-MG] Cummins correction

Hi Shane,
I have always agreed that you are a loyal and obedient public servant. The fact that you stated opinions reflect the views of the The Minister and bureaucratic head of Agriculture and Foods Canada must be a coincidence ;-) . The "disclaimer" in the Trends article was in very small print at the back of the article, the print is too small for a 74 year old. The editors of the two biotechnology trade magazines seem to follow the views of the editor of BFJ who commented that there is a common misconception that science is about facts.I think that a real disclaimer would have acknowledged your role in promoting GM foods and crops. The Canadian bureaucracy is unique in providing bloqs and other public relations venues to label their critics as being Nazis and worse. This pathology may have been brought on by the over consumption of GM foods!
sincerely, joe cummins

DEAR JOE,

I AM SORRY TO SEE THAT ARE SO INCORRECT AGAIN. MAYBE YOU COULD COMMENT ON THE ACTUAL ARTICLE RATHER THAN WRAPING YOURSELF IN FALSEHOODS. YOUR ATTEMPT AT MISLEADING FOLKS HAS FAILED. THANK YOU TO THOSE ON THIS LIST THAT SENT COMMENTS TO ME....
MY COMMENTS ARE IN CAPS BELOW AGAIN CORRECTING MR. CUMMINS'S FALSEHOODS...

Hi Shane,
Your paper and abstract failed to mention that you are a government bureaucrat dealing with the promotion of GM foods.
UNTURE......I HAVE NO DIRECT ROLE IN THE PROMOTION OF GM FOODS.

There was no apparent disclaimer in your article where you acknowledge your government function. INCORRECT, THE DISCLAIMER STATES AS FOLLOWS: Disclaimer: the opinions expressed herein are strictly those of the author who is a citizen of the European Union. Shane Morris contributed to this article in his personal capacity. The views expressed are his own and do not represent those of his employer, Agriculture and Agri-food Canada, or the Government of Canada. SOME HOW JOE THIS WAS LEFT OUT OF YOUR POSTINGS

Clearly as a bureaucrat you appear to promote government positions but seem to masquerade as a private individual. IN CANADA FREEDOM OF SPEECH EXISTS FOR ALL ...EVEN GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES. MY PAPER IS FOCUSED ON THE EU NOT CANADA

Surely the editors of Trends in Biotechnology must have known that you are a government public relations person (AGAIN, INCORRECT I DO NO GOVERNMENT PR WORK, I AM EMPLOYED AS A SCIENTIST) and published the report knowing that it was government public relations effort but pretended it was something from a real scientist in genetic engineering! Unfortunately the government of Canada seems to prefer to conduct its promotion of gm crops by subterfuge, you know that you and the editor of Trends in Genetics should have told the world that you are a government public relations guy not a real genetic engineer! AGAIN I HAVE NO ROLE IN THE PROMOTION OF GM ANYTHING...THE PIECE DEALT WITH THE RISK TO THE ENVIRONMENT OF NOVEL TRAITS (GM OR OTHERWISE). ALSO THE PAPER WAS IN TRENDS IN BIOTECHNOLOGY AND A ANOTHER PIECE IN NATURE BIOTECHNOLOGY. BOTH JOURNALS PUBLISHED MY WORK AS IT HELD SCIENTIFIC MERIT....ALSO SEE http://www.celticlad-morris.blogspot.com/
I AM CURRENTLY EMPLOYED AS A BIOLOGICAL SCIENTIST - BI-GRADE
TO QUESTION MY EXPERTISE IS LAUGHABLE

Your personal attack on me claims there has been a disclaimer in the abstract of the journal article, bu t there is no indication that you are a government bureaucrat that can be found in the article.
INCORRECT, THE DISCLAIMER MAKES CLEAR REFERENCES MY EMPLOYER:
"Disclaimer: the opinions expressed herein are strictly those of the author who is a citizen of the European Union. Shane Morris contributed to this article in his personal capacity. The views expressed are his own and do not represent those of his EMPLOYER, Agriculture and Agri-food Canada, or the Government of Canada."
I FEEL JOE MAY BE SUFFERING FROM A CASE OF SELECTIVE READING....
AS SEE http://tinyurl.com/ydasvh
OR
http://tinyurl.com/yrse37

Others in the Canadian bureaucracy such as *Shiv Chopra *were persecuted by the government for expressing views about biotechnology that were not liked by the senior bureaucrats.and that must mean that you are the senior bureaucrats little darling. INCORRECT, I, UNLKE OTHERS WAS NOT CRITICAL OF CANADA. MY PAPER WAS ON THE EU, OF WHICH I AM A CITIZEN (BORN AND BRED IN DUBLIN, IRELAND), AND FULLY ENTITLED TO EXPRESS MY OPINION ON.

That was just what I was trying to say. As a Canadian bureaucrat and public relations person you should really have admitted that you serve your bureaucratic masters. INCORRECT, I SERVE MY OWN SCIENTIFIC OPINION. YOUR NAZI BASED COMMENTS IN THE PAST ABOUT ME HAVE SHOWN HOW TWISTED YOUR OPINION IS. SEE
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Ban-GEF/message/6424

Unfortunately, that is the way that Canada deals with genetically modified crops, secrecy in testing and marketing the crops while using unfortunate methods to put there views out to the world. Do I fear dirty tricks from the government for uncovering the manner in which they promote gm crops, you bet I do! So Shane , be a good lad and admit that you are a government public relations person.sincerely, joe cummins

JOE I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU ACTUALLY READ MY PAPERS AND MAYBE COMMENT ON THEM DIRECTLY AS THE ISSUES I RAISE ARE IMPORTANT TO SUSTAINABILITY AND THE FUTURE OF AGRICULTURE.

YOUR COMMENTS ON THIS ISSUE HAS ENSURED EVERYONE NOW TAKES YOUR OPINION WITH A GRAIN OF SALT.....YOUR ABILITY TO BE SO INCORRECT IS STAGGERING

NOW I'M OFF TO BED AS I HAVE TO BE UP BRIGHT AND EARLY TO BE YOUR CIVIL SERVANT JOE

HUGS
SHANE
