Many people use seaweed in their composts. You can also put it in your
garden soil but the compost pile is a better choice. Some folks rinse
it first
because of the salt content, but they say it really isn't necessary. In
Washington
State, with a shellfish license, you're allowed to collect up to 10
pounds of
seaweed. Known for its many trace elements, hormones, and many
nutrients, seaweed is an excellent food source for beneficial soil
fungi.
