Tom: Thank you very much. I got it now.
So 2% (w/v%) baking soda solution is made from 2g of baking soda and 100 mL=
 of water.

*VOLUME PERCENT SOLUTIONS: Determined by the volume in milliliters of solut=
e per 100
milliliters of solution ( milliliters solute + milliliters solvent).
Volume percent (v/v) = volume of solute in mL x 100
100 mL of solution
Example: 20 mL of ethyl alcohol in 80 mL of water is a 20% by volume soluti=
on.

*MASS-VOLUME PERCENT SOLUTIONS: Indicated by w/v%. Determined by the mass i=
n
grams of solute per 100 milliliters of solution.
Mass-volume percent (w/v%) = mass of solute in grams x 100
100 mL of solution
Example: 1 gram of Phenolphthalein in 100 mL of 95% ethyl alcohol is a 1 w/=
v% solution.

Tom: How do you get 200 ml CaCl?
How many grams of NaCl would you need to use to produce 200 ml CaCl?

if I want to make 2% baking soda solution, since baking soda is in solid po=
wder form, how many games of baking soda should I use in one litter of wate=
r?

Percent by volume: Solutions based on percent by volume are calculated the =
same as for percent by weight, except that calculations are based on volume=
. Thus one would simply determine what percentage was desired (for example,=
a 20% by volume aqueous solution of sodium chloride) and the total quantit=
y to be prepared.
If the total quantity needed is 1 liter, then it would simply be a matter o=
f calculating 20% of 1 liter which, of course is:
0.20 NaCl * 1000 ml/l = 200 ml NaCl/l.

Tom: As I read through the article, How do you make a 2% backing soda solut=
ion? What does this 2% mean?
