Laura--Here's a non-scientific response to your
question. I have used biovam for 3 years or so and
anecodotally, it works well. Just looking at the
colonized roots, you can tell the difference between
treated and non treated plants. I experimented a
couple of years ago with some echinacea seedlings.
The treated group was greener, bigger and had at least
twice the root mass.
I have also heard from Jim Bruce, who has an
experimental extension vineyard in Colo. that the
biovam treated plants withstood their early frosts
better than non treated plants.
This is consistent with my experience (again non
scientific). I have several varieties that are
marginal for our zone 5a, including chambourcin. So
far, I have not lost any of these vines to cold
weather.
