[compost_tea] Coliform in tea

Elaine,
Are the aerobic conditions in the brewer supposed to remove coliform
bacteria? I guess not, as my tea test sample showed coliform (70)in
it; I've discovered our water holding tank has some contamination and
tested positive for coliform, although we've been told it's safe to
drink. No fecal coliform, and no E. Coli.(We do plan to chlorinate
the 2500 gal. tank.)

I was also looking at the SFI lab tests for some of the thermal
compost I have, and noticed that all three samples have some
coliform, although the numbers are well below the state's maximum
limits for compost. However, on the SFI lab test form, it's noted
that the max. CFU/mL for irrigation is usually 3.4.

I'm a little confused about the coliform situation, because even I
remove the problem from my water, it seems like there will still be
some in the compost, and thus, in the tea? I hope you can help
clarify this for me. Thanks,
                                          Autumn
