I usually price my applications to ea customer on an
individual basis. I have not had any two customers
with a simialar situation and each order has to be
tailor made or lose the deal. While the price of the
tea usually remains constant, delivery,
compost, application and other services sometimes gives
me some room for negotiations. Unlike car sales or
other, a lot of new customers i have to give a sample
or two at first. I have found that by giving them some
free product, if it works, they usually buy and
recommend more to their friends. This worked out well
this past summer as well as last friday at a local
grass and cattle grazers meeting that I was invited
to. A local rancher who I gave product to invited me
to the exclusive meeting and endorsed tea whereas I
picked up three more customers. It has to be
emphasized that while your in business to make money
your interest is in their profitability first. Once
they believe that, you have dedicated customers. My
soapbox this year is reducing the price of the compost
and opening the door and supplementing with tea.
Because of this my organic customer base is enjoying
the "price club" sort of benefits of buying compost
cheaper than they ever could. Think they will buy more
tea next year? Once we prove the known benefits of the
tea program without hidden witches brew type
supplements and combine said program with soil
building microbe friendly Organic Gem style
sustainable fertilizers, this tea thing will
blossom(parden the pun). I cant justify to University
extension agents or even the base level farmer the
validity, nor legally to my organic customers can i
apply a secret ingredient product. Draw the proverbial
line in the sand, mark your territories that
realistically you can service and provide the best
service to your customers. Once you prove to them the
value of your service then like a farmer of mine said
this summer, "I have no reason to make or go anyplace
else for the product as long as your doing all the
work for me".
