Hi, this is Cheryl; I posted the original question, I think!?
I am just growing the flowers now, so I'd love to hear more
discussion on this.

Well, from what I understand, calendula is a species of marigold.
There are many different kinds; some you definitely don't want because
they are used for removing warts and such, a 'French' variety if I remember
correctly.
Is this what you use as fresh?
I would be careful what variety you get if you are particularly interested in
growing for making some cream as I am. Did you see the discussion of
oregano, Greek versus vulgaris ? ... problably the same deal. Some
varieties have the component you want, the taste, the fragrance or the
'other' essence that you want, and some simply don't.
