The answer is no.

Marigold= tagetes sp.
Calendula=calendula officinalis

They are different folks.  I am not familiar with any medicinal use of the
tagetes "mariglod," but the petals of the "gem" hybrids (lemon, orange)
are delicious in spring salads.  Tagetes are the marigolds that repel
pests in the garden too.
