N.E. CSA Regional Conference

NORTHEAST REGIONAL COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE CONFERENCE
A FUTURE FOR FARMING IN THE NORTHEAST
NOVEMBER 7-8, 1997
HANCOCK, MASSACHUSETTS

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is the mutually beneficial
arrangement whereby farmers and members cooperate to grow and distribute
food. CSA is a rapidly expanding approach to marketing
produce and is one of the most dynamic innovations in small-scale
agriculture today. For many farmers across the country, CSA has
proven to be an effective way to maintain profitable, environmentally sound
farms.

CSA of North America, in partnership with Just Food, UMass
Extension and Wilson College, is convening this conference to address
the challenges to, and explore the potential for, creating and operating
successful CSA farms.
The conference's goals are to:

Support the successful development of existing CSA farms

Promote the establishment of new CSA farms

Increase public awareness of the importance of regional agriculture
and CSA
Educate Extension and other USDA staff about CSA

 The conference is designed
to maximize the opportunities for exchange among farmers, CSA
members, Extension personnel and others. If you are interested in
CSA, please come to share and learn from one another.

Workshops are divided into five categories focusing on different
aspects of CSA. In addition to those categories, other topics will be
<br>presented in informal round table discussions. Each panelist will
speak for about ten minutes, leaving a full hour for participant
discussion and interaction.
