Volunteers in MN needed
Harvest Moon Community Farm, a non-profit organization located in
Scandia, Minnesota, (about 40 minutes north of downtown Minneapolis &
St. Paul) will be starting a farm school this summer, and is in search
of volunteers to fill several unpaid opportunities (teaching assistants,
public relations/communications intern, web site designer, development
consultant, and development assistant).
The farm school will provide an opportunity for 3-11 years olds to learn
about rural life, farm animals, nature, organic gardening, crafts,
music, and down-to-earth skills. Some activities will include:
planting and harvesting vegetables, herbs, and flowers; feeding and
caring for animals; gathering eggs; preserving and enhancing wildlife
habitats; making herbal soap and candles; cooking food in a kitchen and
over an open fire; developing a greater understanding, respect, and care
for our environment; and developing skills in tie dying, painting,
drawing, printmaking, and quilting.
