Hmmm, 
Just had another idea. Don't know if it would be possible in your
situation, but could you drive steel stakes (old pipe, rebar or such) into
the ground and bolt or strap the wooden posts to those. Keeping the wood up
off the ground will drastically prolong its useful life. If you're going to
try bamboo, maybe try the steel stake thing with it too. I'm under the
impression that bamboo is not very rot-resistant in soil contact.
